Sculpted by glaciers, the dramatic Scottish West coast continues beneath the waves. Sea lochs are tidal environments protected from the worst of the Atlantic fury. Nowhere else in Britain is underwater bedrock found in such sheltered conditions, leading to rich diverse habitats that can be found at shallower depths than the open sea.
